Enjoy the Silence

Words like violence
Break the silence
Come crashing in
Into my little world
Painful to me
Pierce right through me
Cant you understand
Oh my little girl

All I ever wanted
All I ever needed
Is here in my arms
Words are very unnecessary
They can only do harm

Vows are spoken
To be broken
Feelings are intense
Words are trivial
Pleasures remain
So does the pain
Words are meaningless
And forgettable

All I ever wanted
All I ever needed
Is here in my arms
Words are very unnecessary
They can only do harm

Enjoy the silence

Enjoy the Silence is a Depeche Mode song and I just love the lyrics.  It’s been covered quite a lot in the last couple of years including by popular British band, KEANE.  The cover has been released in a version of KEANE’s latest single, A Bad Dream but I already got the song months before when the band sang the song for the very first time for Yahoo! So, I should think that it’s quite legal to distribute the mp3 cover.  Just email me.

I also got a cover of the same song by Gothic Rock band, Lacuna Coil, which is part of the band’s latest album, Karmacode.  I think their version is better than KEANE’s.  IMHO.

UPDATE: And, oh Nym, if you’re reading this, tell me what you think about The Fray‘s Heaven Forbid.  (Link to the album on Amazon.)

I really like Enjoy the silence but in fact there have been so many remixes that I don’t know what’s the real version in the end/or perhaps forgot the real one.

    Hi Khalil,

Glad to know that you are a Depeche Mode fan like me 🙂

Personally, I like Enjoy the Silence a lot but it’s not among my favourites… perhaps because it was extremely successful commercially.

I prefer more obscure tracks. Like Tora Tora Tora, Shame, Stories of old, Dressed in black, Blue dress, One caress, Insight, Goodnight lovers and The darkest star (see, I chosen one such track from each album 🙂

Well, I’m not really a fan of Depeche Mode fan Avi but hey, doesn’t mean I don’t listen to them from time to time – obviously Enjoy the Silence is my Depeche Mode favourite.

And waz, I kind of like those type of songs more. Even when sometimes I write poetry, I focus on those “sad” thoughts and emotions. Dunno why really but that’s the way it is.

    i dig you mane!
i used to be like zat but then it caught up with me n was sent down a one year spiral of depression!
so, i’m keeping away from any such thoughts or emotions….

    oups
I’m so sorry Khalil, i totally forgot to answer you (whereas Heaven Forbid is still in my playlist).
Yes Heaven Forbid is a very beautiful song. But i still prefer How to save a life. I don’t know, the 2nd song gives more… feelings (? I don’t know how to explain it better). But since then, I have heard other songs by the fray is these ones are the bests, i think.
Again sorry to have forgot you :S

About Enjoy the Silence, i’m never bored of listening to it. And the remix by Mike Shinoda (or something like that, the guy from Linkin Park) is very good too.

Due to an unfortunate series of events, I have lost everything from my computer. Everything includes all the episodes of The Office as well as all of my music.

Ah well, I guess this is just part of the computer world. I am still thinking about going out there and download all those albums I had right now. But maybe waiting a little bit – when I’ll be abroad for my tertiary studies in July – is wiser. Indeed, faster Internet speed.

I actually didn’t know about this Enjoy the Silence cover you mentioned. I’m not into Linkin Park. Hopefully, they didn’t do a mess of it.
