Another demo

Broken mind (demo)

by Khalil A. Cassimally

In this land
Where my thoughts are only mine
I can’t even voice them out
Without staying calm
Or shedding tears.

In this broken land
Where broken souls live
I can’t even see the stars
Even at night
When there are no clouds.

Everything I take is for keeps
Everything you take is yours
So take me
Take me from this broken land
Save me from my broken mind.

Another little demo. Very experimental and a little bit like haiku, really. Well, I suppose I’ll have to remove the ‘demo’ tag shortly.

Poetry Thursday (My week 15.0)

Black

by Khalil A. Cassimally

I’m in blackness
I am not blind
Not blinded,
Neither by love nor by fear
But there’s black light all around
And black is what I see.

The white flag of peace
I know not
Colours are illusions
My mind cannot comprehend
Here, my senses are all black
Black, without the shiny stars
That could’ve brought hope.

I hate black
It alienates me
I don’t want to be ignored.

Black and white to me
Are only black and black, only
My memories are warm and cosy
Though, I remember the lamp was shining
Yeah, it was just the room i was in, and the black lamp
And I wasn’t even alone, no.

I hate black
It alienates me
I don’t want to be ignored, no
I don’t want to live in a black world forever
But I fear that if the black lamp extinguishes
I”ll be in darkness.

Demo poetry

Enjoy the moment (demo)

by Khalil A. Cassimally

Open your eyes
And let them smile
Shine like lonely pearls
As white as your skin.

Cease being rude to yourself
The sky is blue
And grass is green
Enjoy the moment.

Naughty naughty little demons
Fly away from her
And let her have a day’s rest
Just a day’s rest
For her to open her eyes
And let them smile.

I call this poem a demo because I don’t really know the style and composition of this one.  Let’s just say that it’s experimental.

Fading and faded

by Khalil A. Cassimally

Everywhere I look
I see people shaken and sad
Because they are ridiculed, mocked and laughed at
And I see the sun
Fading, just a bit.

At the circus, under the tents
The clown is no more cheered
He cries now
The world has changed and clowns represent sadness
And I see the sun
Fading, just a bit more.

The sun no longers cares
Why give light and warmth
To people who feed on sadness?

The heavens fall upon the earth
Everyone looks up
Angels sweep around them all
And yet, people run away yelling
And I see the stars
Fading, just a bit.

And I see the stars
Fading, just a bit
And I see the sun
Fading, just a bit
Fading and fading
Just a bit.

The notion of the good and the bad
Are fruits of greater minds
While we see sadness
As the catalyst to joy.

And no wonder the stars move away
And no wonder the sun is ashamed
What we have become
Is not what we were destined to be.

And I see the stars
Fading, just a bit
And I see the sun
Fading, just a bit
Fading and fading
Just a bit
Until they disappear
In darkness,
Darkness being a better place
Than here.

Fading and faded
Forever and ever again.

  • My poems are becoming much more like lyrics… which is kind of cool to a certain extent.

Poetry Thursday (My week 8.0)

by Khalil A. Cassimally

Dream of Elysium

He lays his back on the green grass
And stares at the bue sky
Slowly closing his eyes
Not knowing that what’s above
Is only a mask.

He sleeps under the welkin
Waking up in a world akin,
The celestial city
Elysium is waiting for him
Though this kingdom is nothing but a dream

Let them all dream
Let him contemplate the marvels of his subconscious
Dreams are unique
And we all love something
Only we can feel.

Opening his orb to reality
He wonders whether the place he visited
Is somewhere true
While gazing at the dew,
He had slept through the night
In Elysium, the kingdom.

Let them all dream
Let him contemplate the marvels of his unconscious
Dreams are unique
And we all love something
Only we can feel.

Getting himself onto his feet
Hands wet and sticky
But mind still drifting in Elysium
He looks at the morning sky
It is still as blue as before
Pity, Elysium was indeed but a dream.

Let them all dream
That kingdom of heavens
Where angels reach for your hand
Is the adobe of heroes
Dreams are unique
And so are heroes
In Elysium, he will be happy
Here, he is not.

Let them all dream
Dreams are unique
And he does love something
Only he can feel.

Poetry Thursday (My week 7.0)

by Khalil A. Cassimally

Dreams

A light in the middle of the night
A shadow beneath the grey clouds
A candy inside the garbage bin.

A sunset in my heart
A Muscovite in Japan
A phone without pulse.

Abby kissing Warren
A drop amongst the sea
A pen with no ink.

Reality is an illusion
That the mind creates
An illusion which is
As true and false
As the dreams we live in.

A ripple in the lake
An actor among her students
A sob between the orgasms.

A sun under water
A clock which forgets time
A fly that loses its wings.

Dream, my friends!
Because reality is just too ordinary.

Poetry Thursday (My week 6.0)

by Khalil A. Cassimally

[No title]

One day you said no
I watched your determined face
I knew I had just lost my world.

The following day you said maybe
I observed your puzzled face
I wondered whether you were still mine.

Two days later you said yes
I surveyed your luminous face
I supposed you never had left me.

Three days later you said definetely
I followed you in your steps
I was electrified at the very thought of what we would do.

Four days later you said I should never have had
I quickly glanced at you tears
I believed it would be too hard watching them.

Five days later you said nothing
I waited for you to say something
I approached you but you backed off.

Your tears were those of fears
You smiles were vile
Your voice was foisted on me.

And yet I knew not what it was I did
I hid my body behind yours
I watched the night commend our actions
And like his servant I did what I was told.

And yet you laughed coldly
You breathed in faster
But I know (oh yes I do)
That you wanted it again.

So a week later you will say no
Two weeks later you will say maybe
Three weeks later you will say yes
Four weeks later you will say definetely
Five weeks later we will get back to square one.

Because I did something you wanted me to do.
Because I robbed you of something
Because now you see the whole world differently.

Note:

  • I’m late for Poetry Thursday but I just couldn’t get online yesterday so I thought I’d just post this today nonetheless.  Hope it’s ok.
