Olympics 3: Why slipping politics inside?

Paris – and thus France – lost the bid. Ok but life goes on. So why do the English snick the little phrase [link for the whole Countdown page], “bad French,” again? You won so just enjoy and have fun and do a good Olympics for 2012. That’s all we ask.

You could feel the atmosphere drain away from the crowd that had gathered outside the Hotel de Ville. Everything was in place for Paris. What could go wrong? Well, absolutely everything. They’ve lost to the old enemy and this will add a piquancy in the relationship between Tony Blair and Jacques Chriac in the coming days at the G8 Summit at Gleneagles.
