The Google font

It’s been a long time that I’ve been interested in adding the famous Google font to my collection but it’s only today that I really made a move and guess what? Yes, I have it!

Thing is, I always had the font but didn’t realise anything.  The Google font is Book Antiqua and I hear that it’s no more as common as it used to be on the web anymore.  If you’re interested in getting the font as well, just let me know and I’ll email you then.

Actually it’s the Catull font that Google uses. (Look ar the “e”). It’s also rather pricy. Of course, if you’re handy with the pen tool in photoshop you can recreate it and manipulate it a little closer. Good post!

—wow— don’t tell me Book Antiqua? and it was sitting just there in my pc also….thanks for opening me eyes and telling me how the world is simple and easy with Google……I think I should be Googling my font’s collection and who knows what secrets it may unveil to me?

    Hans,

I was just as astonished as you to find that I actually had the font all the time!

you don’t have the font, the font is not book antiqua, it’s catull, as someone mentioned before.
take a close look at the lowercase g in the logo - it looks TOTALLY different in the actual google logo as opposed to the book antiqua version.

I like the google different colors. It’s amazing what they do to personalize the font to the holidays.
I am relatively new to computers but love to label my kids pictures. I would very much like to add the google font to my computer.
    Thanks you!

  23. 23 tom 13 May, 2008 at 9:07 am

Why does this site attract so many illiterate people?

  24. 24 dipstick 13 May, 2008 at 9:19 am

Book Antiqua does look similar at a distance, but every letter is different. In an image editor, save Google’s logo and type in Google under it in Book Antiqua and you’ll see there’s a difference. But it’s a good cheap imitation that’s included with Windows.
